Ariellah performs and teaches belly dance all over the world. She has an extensive 12 year dance background that includes strict classical ballet training with the Royal Academy of Dance from London.

She has studied and performed belly dance for the past seven years with Janine Ryle of Danse Mahgreb and as a founding member of The Indigo with Rachel Brice.

Her style infuses many genres of belly dance, all with a modern dark flavour that is uniquely her own.

She is featured on the first of its kind "Gothic BellyDance" DVD and has also released her first instructional DVD.



Amar is amongst a handful of local DJs whose taste cuts a path through an abundance of musical selectionsand leads dancefloors into a hypnotic sway like snakesbefore the charmer. In this instance the muse is a masala that brews sounds from the Middle East and Balkans with rhythms of the Asian underground and electric Brazilian vibes. Whether its breaks, bhangra, house, drum & bass or downtempo the global nature of Amar’s sets bridge a multi-culti span from the world to the Bay Area.

As a DJ and promoter, he has collaborated and shared the bill with some of the Bay Area's & world's most innovative Musicians, DJs and dancers including DJ Dragonfly DJ Sep, Dhamaal, Cheb i Sabbah, Soulsalaam, Ultra Gypsy, Urban Tribal, Dhol Rhythms, Nitin Sawhney, Lorin, Nader, Unmata, Midival Punditz, Sila and the Afrofunk Experience, SooozhyQ, Beats Without Borders, State of Bengal, Karsh Kale, Sub Swara, Frederique, Ariellah, Freyja, Zoe, Rachel Brice and others.

Sharon Kihara

A seasoned performer, inspirational teacher and exotic personality, Sharon Kihara is known worldwide for her avante garde and slightly eccentric artistry, as well as for her graceful and powerful technique. She comes from a strong background in western dance, beginning with Ballet and continuing to perform with college Modern and Jazz dance companies throughout the nineties. Her true love came in the form of Belly dance, first witnessed as a child in it’s Cabaret form, then as Tribal Style in the mid nineties, and, as her mind had been blown beyond all hope for repair, she decided to pursue this art form with full enthusiasm…it wasn’t even a choice at this point.

Sharon joined the Bellydance Superstars in 2004 and has been touring internationally ever since. She has taught and performed in over 30 countries, shared stages with acts such as Missy Elliot, Black Eyed Peas, and co-headlined with the BDSS at Glastonbury.

Her favorite pastime is teaching dance and movement, in the form of Tribal Fusion Bellydance workshops and seminars. Sharon is interested in dance kinetics, and therapeutics and is constantly searching for new ideas and information. She enjoys fusing healing arts with performing arts, and loves bearing witness to the beautiful, transcendental changes that occur in the lives of those who embark on the journey that is Bellydance—it is no less than magic.

BVorona is passionate about the art of expression and weather it be through performing or visual arts, this enables her to bring her ideas to life. After moving to New York to continue her education, Vorona's journey into the realms of Middle Eastern Dance opened doors that would later lead her to be a performer and instructor.

Her background consists of a vast majority of dance styles including ATS, Ballet, East Indian Folk, Modern Fusion, and Traditional Middle Eastern although her love of Tribal Fusion Belly Dance has her committed to teaching and performing this style. She currently performs in New York City as a guest with Sarah J Locke's "Alchemy Dance Theater" and performs at various shows on the West Coast and throughout the United States as a soloist.

Vorona's intrigue of Spirituality, Human Anatomy, and the Life Sciences gives her a diverse approach to the realms of dance and movement. Her teaching style uses these aspects as a foundation for her teaching. She is currently studying at New York College of Health Professions and majors in Massage Therapy and Holistic Medicine.

Frédérique began studying American Tribal Style Belly Dance in February of 1997 with Jill Parker. In December of 1999 she left Ultra Gypsy to delve into creating something new; simultaneously helping to pioneer the face of what we call today, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. After a long journey of experimentation and self realization, she has become known for her precision and avant garde performance style, detail oriented instruction, audio engineering abilities, and graphic design skills which have given her complete creative control.

Frédérique pushes musical boundaries by editing, mixing, and arranging her performance sets. Her music enhances her conceptual narrative creating reflective and intricate nuances in her movement which complement her technical skill and fluidity.

Her interpretive style is a compilation of life, experience, passion, and diligence filtered through her imagination to share with you...

Mira Betz

The multi-faceted career of Mira Betz is a testament to her passionate artistry and desire for continual growth. Active in theater, dance and the performing arts for 20 years, Mira Betz has become a sought after dancer, choreographer, costumer, and teacher.

Nominated "Instructor of the year" by Zaghareet Magazine, Mira is a valued instuctor at prestigeous festivals and camps across the nation, as well as at the Malonga Arts Collective in Oakland California. Mira is currently facilitating the Barbary Coast Shakedown, a collaboration of Middle Eastern dance professionals pairing performance with intensive dance instruction.

Her dance background includes training in Salsa, Modern, Jazz, and Flamenco.
Mira continues to spread her experience, knowledge and love for dance through her captivating performance and engaging teaching style.

Super Kate

SuperKate is a passionate and talented performer, instructor, and choreographer based in Los Angeles. She has been extremely fortunate to have studied and performed with many teachers and dancers around the nation since 2002, including Rakadu Gypsy Dance, Urban Tribal Dance Company, and Malice Dreaming.?

SuperKate's background is rich with complimentary dance styles which she uses to give her art to others. She is known for her unique performances that range from comedy to darkness, from the 80's to Frankenstein.?

SuperKate dances with Nikii Henry in the fusion troupe Subee Djinn. They perform around the west coast and can be found on the Tribal Revolution DVD. SuperKate teaches both regular classes and private lessons around Los Angeles.?


Freyja's dance background includes ballet, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, salsa, club dancing, flamenco, Indonesian and Indian dance. She has developed her own unique style, drawing from many of these sources.

Freyja has studied American Cabaret, Turkish and Egyptian styles of belly dance as well as American tribal style, which later led to tribal fusion. She has studied with a long list of teachers, and being a life-long student, she continues to study dance as well as other movement disciplines including yoga, pilates, qigong and the Alexander Technique. Freyja teaches regular classes in Oakland.


Mitara is a belly dance performer,who just migrated from the east coast,
Boston, MA, to the west, Oakland, Ca.

Beginning her dance career in the southeastern United States, her dance studies include Tango, Flamenco, Egyptian, American cabaret, tribal fusion, and ATS tribal styles.

She is known for her unique stage presence, world fusion themed pieces, and spellbinding double sword routines. Her love of dance has taken her all over the US and the World.


Anaar is a long time practicing witch in the Feri Tradition and brings to her performances a large body of dark lore and ritual.

Her body of work focus on sensual ecstasy and expressionistic storytelling. She walks between the worlds, dancing between technique and passion. Every performance is an homage to her Triple Muse; Mystery, Power and Ritual.

Fear not to step into the circle, Fear not to dance with the Fey.

Alyssum Pohl

Hailing from Lexington, Kentucky, Alyssum Pohl brings wit and joy to her performance. A lifelong dancer, she began her study of tribal-style bellydance with Sri Tarasita, director of Rakadu Gypsy, in 1998, and commenced performing with Rakadu three years later.

Rakadu, famous for their storytelling and improvisational bellydance, has been the perfect launching pad for Alyssum's performance style. In addition to bellydance, Alyssum is accomplished in yoga, front-bending contortion, rhythm tap, and has many years of training in dance forms from around the world besides (including creative movement, lyrical stage, jazz, classical Indian, classical Chinese and Mongolian, African, contra-dance, waltz, as well as 80's pop).

While she lived in New England (2004-2008), she honed her own style of tribal bellydance by incorporating her contortion abilities and sharpening her isolations. During this time, she also began teaching regularly and coached Boston-based tribal troupe, OmBellyCo. She is influenced greatly by her teachers Sri Tarasita and Julie Lively as well as Heather Stants, Mira Betz, and more.


Currently residing in San Francisco, Auberon is a master of American Tribal style dance, Afro Cuban dance, a Yoga and Martial arts, Modern dance and Spanish forms of dance from Flamenco to Salsa.


Nisha has been dancing for 7 yrs. Nisha has performed in many different festivals through out California and has performed extensively in her hometown of Las Vegas. Nisha's style is best described as Dark Tribal Fusion bellydance. In her mission to bring her dance to the masses she also hopes to bring them on a journey with her as she explores the moods music and dance can evoke. She hopes to bring inspiration to her audience and to move people. Nisha is 1/3 of the up and coming award winning troup TABU. Taking 1st place in both competitions they have entered. Nisha hopes to inspire women of all shapes and sizes to dance and embrace themselves!


Hailing from Los Angeles, Sina is honored to dance in Desert Sin, Elysium Dance Theatre, and Urban Tribal Dance Company.

In her copious amounts of spare time, she also has launched her own production company, Malice Dreaming Productions, under which she produces theatrical dance shows featuring some of the most stunning and inspiring dancers she knows.

She is an acclaimed choreographer, holds a teaching certification in pilates, and thinks of herself as a perpetual student with a deep passion for movement and music.

Sa'elayssa & Elysium Dance Theater

Elayssa proudly presents her new company: Elysium Dance Theatre. Boundless creativity, passion and commitment to highly stylized costuming and intricate, meaningful choreography vitalize the company's creations.

From abstract movement poems to elaborately developed stories, Elysium's spirit transcends, communicating deeply with the heart.

Shahlah Sutra

Shahlah Sutra has been practicing and performing the art of bellydance for over 10 years, the first 4 of which were self taught through videos due to lack of instruction in her area. Furthering her training in various different styles of oriental, folkloric and modern bellydance through master level workshops and self study, her style has morphed in to something completely her own over the years, however Gothic Fusion is her core passion. Her inspiration comes from anything and everything that strikes her fancy, sometimes it's the driving beat of a good song or the emotional pain of loss, all experiences are mixed into her dance in a deliciously dark and wicked way....

We in CoRE have suspended our own concept of physical limitation, pierced the heart of our fears, and transcended the boundaries of social convention in order to further the understanding of the corporeal and spiritual being.

Suspension acts combined with traditional performance art and theatre provide us with a new outlet for artistic expression that enables the audience to join us on our emotional journey.

By pushing our own boundaries in life and art, we inspire others to explore their own.

Jennifer Faust

Jennifer began dancing at the age of three, taking classes in ballet, tap and jazz. At the tender age of nine, she received her first pair of pointe shoes. This launched a 12 year obsession with classical and contemporary ballet studying with the Marin Ballet and Dance Theater Seven. While obtaining a degree in Bio-psychology, she was approached to dance and perform with the prestigious dance program at UCSB.

Jennifer discovered bellydance in 2004 after being taken to the first Undulation produced by Jill Parker of Ultra Gypsy. Completely mesmerized, she began to take classes from Jill consistently for a year before being asked to join the Suhaila Dance Company in 2006. Jennifer is currently pursuing her solo career while training in Muay Thai (kickboxing) and Japanese sword.

After almost a lifetime of working as a desposable cigarette lighter repairman in Europe, Bruce now lives as a hobo in the United States, traveling from state to state, juggling rats, birds and insects for food, and sometimes he can be seen doing cartwheels behind hot dog vendors.

During his off season, he enjoys needlepoint work and stage managing.

DJ Decay

His focus has always about the feelings evoked by the music and the community it creates.

He's always approached this responsibility exactly the same way. He never plans a set. He's never routine or predictable. . He never just 'settles' for what's current or being played by every other DJ. He puts on a track and goes from there and gladly takes you with him. His versatility enables him to adapt to any crowd or environment. His style ranges from standard gothic and industrial, with some strange tendencies, to synth-pop and eighties but he might surprise you with some dark, dirty secrets, too. DJing has enabled him to get closer to the music and has given him the first opportunity to express all that he has to offer.

David, "Decay" has accumulated a variety of credits and has been promoting a weekly club every Monday for the last fourteen years. He has also has played with and for some of the top bands in this genre, old and new.

Decay currently holds a weekly residency at Death Guild, in San Francisco, (one of the longest running clubs in the world). He also has multiple guest spots all over the bay area and country.


Deshret Dance Company

From the darker, more theatrical side of Tribal Fusion comes a collaboration of dancers with extensive belly dance backgrounds…and a love for the dance. Deshret Dance Company is a professional belly dance company based in Oakland, Ca. Deshret was founded in early 2007 by Ariellah, the company’s artistic director. Deshret’s current dance members are: Jennifer, Grace, Molly, Predslava, and Natalie. Each of the dancers contribute their individuality and strength to the dance company. Deshret Dance Company wanders somewhere between the old and the new, infusing classical Middle Eastern dance with modern Tribal Fusion belly dance.

Electric Vardo Live ... in the Dark

Electic Vardo Live is Amar's vision of multi-faceted performance flowing into each other in a complementary yet contrasting fashion. Amar chooses different dancers for each Electric Vardo Live piece and mixes the music live for them. He chooses the music based on his inspiration from each particular dancer's style. This year at Shadowdance, Amar will be joined by blackhoodygrrl on keyboard and the special guest dancers will be Samantha Riggs, Vorona, Freyja, Mira Betz, Alyssum, Mitara, Ariellah and Frederique -
plus a surprise guest

Perilium (Esperanza and Eden)

Perilium is one of the South Bay's premier Belly Dance Burlesque troupes starring of Eden and Esperanza; two dancers that found each other in the beginning of 2007 at a Belly Dance Superstar Boot Camp. Esperanza, whose background is mainly Burlesque, and Eden, with a background in Belly Dance, felt it natural to mesh these two styles together.

Esperanza is a super busy mommy who owns a dental lab and teaches Yoga and Belly-Q. Belly-Q is a new burgeoning dance style that fuses Belly Dance and Burlesque and has been taking the South Bay area by storm. Eden is a busy mommy of three who teaches music and has a degree in Opera. Since officially establishing the troupe in June of 2007, Perilium has performed at Belly Dance festivals, clubs and Burlesque shows.

Perilium saw the South Bay's need for live performance venues, so they now host a Belly Dance club called Club Spice. Club Spice is a quarterly event that highlights the best of South Bay talent. This duet has been busy working hard to create fun, innovative, theatrical Burlesque Belly Dance fusion and will be sure to undulate their way into your hearts!
